The Patterson Brothers were from the tiny town of Parkton, about twenty minutes outside of Fayetteville. According to the back cover of this album (their first of at least two), the brothers sang in two gospel groups. Their mother had long hoped that they would become a family group, and after her death the brothers united. This album includes no less than six Pattersons, along with Alvurnish Holmes and Billy Saunders on guitar. A single from the album is dated 1982 and according to public records, Holmes appears to have been born around 1970, so if I had to guess I'd say this is from 1983 or so, though it sounds a little earlier. As with so many groups at the time, this has a sound that would have fit right in on late 70s Nashboro.
Ansco was a small Fayetteville label that appears to have been gospel-only.

I am always interested in hearing from members of groups and their families, as well as anyone who can help tell the story of these groups. I've recently decided to incorporate as much biographical information as I can track down about the groups whose records I post, and I'm going back through former posts as time permits to add as much information as possible. Names and biographies of group members, other groups that they played in, dates of releases, home cities of groups, information about labels - really anything is useful. The men and women who gave glory with this great music deserve to be remembered better.
My intent is to give people a way to hear this forgotten and hard to access music. All songs on this channel are recorded from my own collection. I do not own the copyright to this material. If you'd prefer that I not share the music you made or own the copyright for, please contact me I'll promptly remove the video.
